The undoubted advantages of the character of the Maltese lapdog the following:
- Affectionate disposition.
- Cleverness, Maltese lapdogs are easily trained even to difficult tricks.
- Suitable for beginner or senior owner.
- Feel great in a small apartment.
- Get along well with other animals.
Maltese lapdogs adore all family members and are always ready to cheer them up. Their liveliness is accompanied by frequent bursts of activity, and the pet will invite you to play. However, the Maltese lap-dog itself can tirelessly be worn for a very long time, even in a circle.
Is in the nature of the maltese lap-dog and cons, which, however, are just the flip side of the pros:
- They can use their teeth if it seems that the owner or his family members are in danger.
- Prone to excessive barking.
- May be stubborn.
- It is difficult to tolerate separation from the owner
Devotion and fearlessness is, of course, not a minus, but a plus of the character of the Maltese lap-dog, however, it depends on the owner whether he can control the behavior of his dog. After all, these kids are desperately rushing to protect the owner - it does not matter from another dog or from a person, regardless of the size of the enemy. Moreover, they assess the situation not always soberly. And in the case of an erroneous attack on an “intruder” that simply passed by, these wonderful qualities can be a threat - including for the smallest dog.
The Maltese character in relation to children
Maltese lap-dog is not the most suitable option for a family with young children (under 8 years old). But not because the character of the Maltese lapdog prevents this. Not at all, just small children who do not yet control their actions can inadvertently harm a fragile pet. Therefore, if you nevertheless decided to have a Maltese lap dog with your children, your task is to ensure the safety of the dog.
However, the Maltese lapdog can become a cheerful and devoted friend for an older child who is already able to be responsible for his actions.
In any case, categorically prohibit children from disturbing the pet with food or sleep, interfering with retirement and holding them by force if the dog is tired of communication. And in no case do not leave the Maltese lapdog alone with a small child.
